Today it serves as an Army National Guard Training Center with museums dedicated to preserving its history for generations to come. You can take self-guided tours or explore with a docent who will share unique stories about Camp Blanding’s past inhabitants such as General George Patton and President Harry Truman when they visited during WWII! Riverside Arts Market Every Saturday from 10am-3pm (March-December), the Riverside Arts Market takes place along the banks of the St Johns River in Downtown Jacksonville (just a short drive away). It’s a lively event featuring local artists showcasing their work such as paintings, jewelry, sculptures and more! There’s also live music performances throughout the day so be sure to check it out if you’re ever in town on a Saturday!
Gold Head State Park
Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park is one of Florida’s oldest state parks. The park was created by the Civilian Conservation Core in the 1930s, opening its doors on 1941. With a total of sixteen vacation cabins overlooking scenic Little Lake Johnson, and nine of these cabins were built by the Civilian Conversation Core, Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park is a city-free and historical getaway for everyone.
